Steamed broccoli takes three minutes of steaming time before it is tender and ready to eat, and it doesn't dry out.

Ingredients

523g broccoli

One quarter cup of water

One tablespoon of olive oil

Two teaspoons of lemon juice

One quarter teaspoon of garlic salt

One quarter teaspoon of thyme

Pepper, to taste

Method

Start by placing broccoli in a shallow bowl and add thyme, garlic salt, lemon juice, olive oil and toss. Add water.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and steam it in the microwave for four minutes. Let it sit for another three minutes before removing it from the microwave.

If you like your broccoli to still have some crunch, cook it for less time-three to four minutes is perfect.

Alternatively, if you like your broccoli to be soft, steam it for a full seven minutes in the microwave.
