Lizzo Shares Her Journey: Losing Weight and Overcoming Anxiety

Over a year into her weight loss journey, Lizzo shares insights into her weight loss journey while simultaneously prioritizing her mental health.
During an Apr. 22 TikTok Live, the “About Damn Time” songstress spoke about her weight loss, noting she avoids “sugary stuff” in the mornings and goes for a “super savory” meal.
“She mentioned doing something nice for herself, saying it should involve carbs. She thought about having almond butter and toast. Everyone’s body is unique, so it’s important to figure out what suits you best.”
She subsequently highlighted that her belief is the sole concept which "holds up scientifically, in terms of calories in compared to calories out."
Lizzo also mentioned that she would consume two or three big cups of coffee from Starbucks daily. But she ceased buying these drinks once she realized just how high their calorie count was. According to her, this habit added up to about 1200 calories per day.
When talking about her mental health, the singer mentioned that she quit consuming coffee to better manage her nervous system. She shared that she began "implementing a caloric deficiency" as she tended to overeat.
Lizzo Discussed How Her Weight Loss Has Affected Her Anxiety
In another part of her TikTok Live session, Lizza discussed how losing weight has affected her anxiety levels.
I've been striving to manage my anxiety for many years," she shared. "Then I realized that I'm ready to let go and stop waiting to completely embrace who I am and find happiness.
Lizzo then said that she does other things to manage her anxiety. “And I meditated. I calm myself down. And I isolate a little bit, but not like made myself lonely, not the way I used to when I was depressed. I isolated myself in a mindful way where I had no distractions.”
She also mentioned that she used to enjoy distracting herself with company, eating, and alcohol consumption. "I enjoyed that," she said, "but I have ceased engaging in those activities. Instead, I now concentrate solely on myself."
Lizzo previously revealed that she lost 16% of her body fat and lowered her body mass index by 10 points.
