Gary Owen demonstrated remarkable generosity by openly offering support to a fan grieving the recent loss of his wife, just days before attending Owen's comedy performance.
At a recent performance at the Punch Line Comedy Club in Sacramento, California, Owen shared with the audience that he'd been reached out to by Rudy Escalante. Escalante informed him that his wife had died just two days prior to the show. In spite of this loss, Escalante still attended the performance.
In a snippet from the night, Owen and Escalante are shown talking while the band played. Owen inquired about the funeral's expenses, and Escalante estimated about $1,600 to cover "cremation and everything else."
Owen offered to pay the bill, which led Escalante to come on stage and embrace the comedian. Escalante also revealed a tattoo dedicated to his wife, to whom he's been married for nearly two decades. The couple's daughters are 13 and 16 years old.

Upon Owen's inquiry about whether $1,600 would be sufficient, Escalante responded, "Every bit is appreciated. I dedicated a month away from my job solely to spend time with the girls and everything associated with that."
Owen replied, "Rest assured, I'll take care of you."
Escalante is additionally using GoFundMe to collect $13,000 for Gutierrez's memorial service on August 9. Currently, he has gathered nearly $11,000.you can donate here.
After his performance, Escalante used Instagram to express his gratitude to Owen for his generosity. He posted a picture of himself with the comedian, accompanied by the message: "Gary Owens, you're a true friend, Big Dawg. My family and I will always remember what you did for us last night. Kim is watching over you, smiling."
He continued, saying, "I simply wanted a photo, but you gave us something incredibly special. Much love, my friend."
