Meals on the Move Arrive in Posey County!

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The United Way of Posey County and The Posey County Council on Aging is teaming up to bring Meals on the Move to Posey County.

A release obtained by Eyewitness News says the program will be a home delivery service for seniors living independently.

“Seniors are at a greater risk of malnutrition, which results in physiological changes, cognitive functioning, metabolism issues, body composition issues, chronic diseases and other conditions as well,” Executive Director of United Way of Posey County Keely Winiger said. “Older adults living on a fixed income may be forced to choose between paying for medications, rent, or groceries. With this program we want to help with this, as well as to provide healthier habits, better nutrition, stronger physical activity, and overall better health and well-being for the aging population in need. Rapidly growing demand and rising costs have exacerbated the situation.”

$91,721 in grants has been secured to start the program and is excited for it to begin in July of this year. A $45,020 grant from The Posey County Community Foundation was also given.
