Wellness Wednesday: Delicious Berry Dessert
PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB News 13 presents "Wellness Wednesday" each Wednesday during the News 13 Midday broadcast, focusing on topics related to health and fitness.
This week, the Personal Trainer, Traycee Green, from Pure Platinum ,, was at the studio with News 13’s Chris Marchand and Amelia Henderson to demonstrate how to create a delicious berry dessert.
Here are the ingredients:
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1 tbs chia seeds
- 1 tbs honey
- Yogurt to garnish (optional)
Here is the recipe:
Mash the berries and combine them with chia seeds to achieve a thicker consistency. Sweeten the mixture using honey afterwards. Finally, put this blend in the fridge for about 20 minutes to further enhance its thickness.
Green explained that the mixture needs to go into the refrigerator initially because the chia seeds absorb liquid, which helps thicken the consistency.
Create tiny rounds of the mixture on a sheet of parchment paper and put them in the freezer. After they have completely frozen, coat the solidified mixture in yogurt and return them to the freezer. Finally, decorate with a swirl of melted chocolate or some chocolate chips.
