Iowa Bill to Boost Cancer Coverage for Firefighters Moves Forward
A proposed legislation to increase cancer coverage for firefighters in Iowa has been approved and will now be sent to Governor Kim Reynolds for her signature.
House File 969 The bill was passed unanimously by the House. This legislation aims to broaden disability and death benefits so they encompass all types of cancer; under present laws, these benefits only apply to 14 specific cancers. Firefighters have been striving to achieve approval for this extension for many years now.
The Iowa State Senate approved the bill earlier this month.
