CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCT) — The American Athletic Conference Kickoff's second day took place in Charlotte on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Pirates' training camp is just about here, kicking off on Monday. ECU's returning starting quarterback, Katin Houser, recently discussed the approaching season with Brian Bailey from WNCT.
I'm incredibly excited and eager," Houser exclaimed. "I'm really looking forward to our first game on August 28th; it's been constantly on my mind for the last few months.
The Pirates are kicking off their season with a game against N.C. State in Raleigh. "Yeah man, it’s exciting. The game is going to be a fun environment, we don’t worry too much about the noise.”
Houser mentioned that last season was a whirlwind after he stepped in as the starting quarterback, taking Garcia's place, and following Houston's dismissal and Harrell's subsequent appointment.
The initial weeks were a blur; I wasn't sure what to anticipate," he stated. "My guiding principle was essentially, 'We'll keep giving it our all.' We had nothing to lose, so we went out there and the team really united during that five-game winning streak and finished the season strong.
Houser expressed his desire to witness the team solidify their bond during training camp. He stated, "I'm looking forward to seeing the team's connection develop. We've dedicated the entire summer to workouts and fostering camaraderie. Now, we have the opportunity to translate that into practice, bringing enthusiasm and enjoyment to the field, both during practice and in the lead-up to it."
