Eagles' Super Bowl Champ Hicks Hangs Up Cleats

Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks has formally declared that he is retiring.from the National Football League on Friday.

Hicks hasn't been on the Eagles' roster since 2018, but he was a starting player for them when they achieved their historic first.Super Bowl-winning season in 2017.

He played in the first seven games of that season before an injury cut his year short. Hicks frequently had trouble staying healthy while in Philadelphia, a factor that led to the Eagles letting him leave as a free agent.

However, Hicks showed flashes of strong play when he wasn't injured. The player drafted in the third round in 2015 producedPotential recognition as the top first-year defensive player.Early on, Pro Football Focus recognized him as the Eagles' "secret superstar" following the 2016 season.

Hicks especially tormented the Dallas CowboysIt's somewhat ironic, considering he was a college football player for Texas. After departing Philadelphia to join theArizona CardinalsIn 2019, Hicks experienced a reversal of fortune regarding injuries. He managed to avoid missing any games until the 2023 season while playing for theMinnesota VikingsHe joined forces once again with Jim Schwartz, his former defensive coordinator from the Eagles, on the team.Cleveland Browns in 2024.
