Survey Shows: Nearly One-Third Expect Improved Household Finances Next Year
Approximately three out of every ten Americans anticipate an improvement in their family’s financial situation within the next year. as per a report issued on Tuesday .
President Trump's approach to the economy continues to receive negative ratings, although these have improved slightly since he has momentarily halted several of his most contentious tariff initiatives.
According to The Economist/YouGov survey, only 30% of Americans anticipate improvements in their family’s financial situation by April 2026, marking the lowest percentage since October of the previous year. Approximately 28% believe things will remain largely unchanged, whereas around 29% foresee a decline in their economic condition. About 13% expressed uncertainty regarding future financial prospects.
The survey indicated that 41% supported and 51% opposed Trump’s approach to the economy and job creation. This reflects a minor shift from the previous week when 41% approved and 53% disapproved.
Slightly under half of all Americans, specifically 49%, believe that the US economic situation is deteriorating, which marks a decline from last week’s figure where this sentiment was held by 54% as per the survey. Approximately one-fifth, or about 18%, think the economy is improving, whereas around a fourth, precisely 26%, feel it remains unchanged.
In total, 43 percent of Americans held favorable opinions about Trump, whereas an additional 54 percent expressed unfavorable views regarding the president.
Trump’s approval rating In a recent poll conducted by CNN dropped to 41 percent, whereas an additional 59 percent of participants held the contrary opinion regarding the president. This survey was carried out shortly prior to President Trump reaching the 100-day milestone of his current term in the White House.
The survey took place from April 25 to April 28 and involved 1,785 adult participants in the U.S. The margin of error for this study was 3.2 percentage points.
